Agenda/Goals/Thoughts

Narrative:

I think it would be beneficial towards our goal(s) to divide our class time into project segments.  Here are our projects:

• ·         Planning for the Venture Project Celebration on Friday May 17, 2013

o   Initial company contact to ascertain who the “decision maker is”.  This phase is due by October 19th

o   Developing a written Venture Project Celebration strategy with target dates…I need a volunteer(s) who is/are experienced with Microsoft Excel to build a spreadsheet for this

o   Students committing to certain sub-committees (on going)

• ·         Creating websites for teachers (Veterans)

• ·         Creating a website for Mr. David Demers (Whole Class)

• ·         Discovering Photoshop (Whole Class)

o   Creating a banner

o   Manipulating a photo

• ·         Discovering Dream Weaver (You Tube tutorials) (Veterans)

• ·         Continuing with our 19 mini-web pages (Rookies)

Role Playing/Model for a “cold” phone call to your companies:

Hi my name is_______________ and I am a student at the Math, Science and Technology High School which is part of the Lawrence High School campus.  I am calling on behalf of my Youth Tech Entrepreneur class.  We are students who build websites for any local nonprofit or altruistically based organization.  As part of the curriculum, I am being asked to contact Lawrence based companies.  I/we would like to know if you have a website, and if you do what the URL address is for your website. 

Scenario 1: Record the URL ________________________________

Then say:  It is one of the goals of our class to foster partnerships with our local businesses.  Could you direct me to the person in your company who might be able to assist me in initiating such a partnership? 

Record the information___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

Scenario 2: If the company does not have a website ask the person on the phone who would be the appropriate person to speak with regarding the possibility of our class building a website for them.  Record all pertinent information such as the contact’s name, phone number and e-mail address.  Make sure you repeat the information back to the phone contact.  Inform the person that we will then contact that person to set up an appointment to see if we can build them a website.  Thank them for their time.
